After all of the delays in the Ohio House of Representatives due to the Speaker resignation, primary elections, summer recess, fall election recess, and more, HB 501 got to the floor of the House December 6, 2018 and was passed with a clear majority of 60-28.
Grassroots coordinated by the Veterinary Nurse Initiative alongside the Ohio Associations of Veterinary Technicians, Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, MedVet, Compassion First, and every individual veterinary professionals and practices along with their friends and families have made this possible.
This achievement would not be possible without the thousands of supporters and over 40 organizations (position statements) that have decided to invest their passion and resources into the VNI and the future of the veterinary field.
Congratulations, Ohio! We are now one step closer to establishing Registered Veterinary Nurses in Ohio and the United States.
